It is sad that this young and bright student with a promising future got killed for nothing. But it is also not right to think that overseas Chinese students should be protected as a special group. They are in France, whose government is elected by its own people. So any foreign visitors get the same protection as any native French. Only in mainland China, foreigners get 'special' treatment. Why? Because the communist government controls the media and they don't want foreigners to expose anything negative about China. When in a democratic country, the government has to treat its own people better in order to get the votes.
