她激动地拥抱老太太，眼泪都掉下来了

去年的最后一天，陪老婆考驾照，二级路考。虽然是没有通过而遗憾回来，但考试的经历，却让我们再次感到了加拿大人的善良。

考试就离不开考官。我们去的地方叫克林顿（与前美国总统的名字是一样的Clinton），考官是一个中年女性。由于我们去的早，在我们考之前就已经与她照了好几次面，每次她都微笑与我们“Hi”打一下招呼，当然其他考官也一样，都很和气。她考我老婆时，由于看见我在旁边，还先问了我一下“你今天好吗？”，上车后，首先介绍了考试的内容，同时还提出了考试时，在技术上需要注意的事项。当然，考试并不顺利，刚考到一半，一个路权的概念错误，就导致了我老婆整个考试的失败，但是考官不仅让我老婆坚持考完了全部项目，部分项目还允许她重做，最后回到考场宣布我老婆考试不合格的同时，还详细说明了考试的时候，都出了哪些问题，为什么不合格。在最后，她还告诉我老婆说，“祝你下次运气好”。整个过程，她给我们的感觉是无私，但不铁面，并且时刻让我们感觉到了她是个善良的人。

更让我们感到加拿大人善良的，是在我们去考试的路上。在一个乡间小路的中间，我想与老婆交换一下驾驶位，当我们都下车的时候，竟然稀里糊涂的在加锁的状态关上了车门。前不着村，后不着店，还搞不清楚自己的确切方位；两个人没穿防寒衣，气温低于0度，风里还夹着雪花，我们那叫惨呀。一个老头看见我们需要帮助停下了车，他没有开门的技能，也什么工具都没有，于是开车把我送的就近的居民那里。当我拿着一个铁条回来的时候，看见远远的一辆车迎我而来，原来一位老太太看见我老婆穿着单薄，在车的边上发傻，就停到那里，让我老婆上她的车上去保暖；当看见我从几百米远的地方跑过来的时候，又开车来接我。

当我们终于打开车门的时候，我老婆激动地回头拥抱一直守候在我们车后的老太太，眼泪都掉下来了。另外，当我们从发生错误的地点离开大约1公里的时候，看见了一辆警车与我们相向而来，如果此时我们还没有打开车门的话，警察是会给我们帮助的。由于这是我们全天见到的唯一的警车，我们觉得可能是哪位过路的好心人报了警，警察是过来察看情况的。

我们刚到加拿大的时候，大家都说加拿大的白人善良。这虽然也是我们日后的体会，但感觉这句话应修正为“在加拿大长大的人都很善良”。有人说，因为加拿大是个发达国家，国家富了，人就善良了。这句话肯定有道理，但是很模糊。那究竟是什么造就了加拿大人的善良呢？我的家庭医生的门诊里挂了一幅字，是一首英文诗歌，我想这首诗就是答案吧。

下面就是这首Dorothy Law Nolte的Children Learn What They Live，大家也许能体会到我们应该怎么做。

If children live with criticism,
they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility,
they learn to fight.
If children live with fear,
they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity,
they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule,
they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy,
they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame,
they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement,
they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance,
they learn patience.
If children live with praise,
they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance,
they learn to love.
If children live with approval,
they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition,
they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing,
they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty,
they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness,
they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration,
they learn respect.
If children live with security,
they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness,
they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.
